Seeds
A heat-tolerant cilantro variety bred to resist premature bolting for a longer harvest.
This specialized variety of coriander solves the common problem of the plant rapidly going to seed during warm weather. It produces an abundance of pungent, bright green leaves that are a staple in Latin American, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisines. By delaying the bolting process, gardeners get a significantly extended window to harvest fresh cilantro before the plant transitions to producing coriander seeds.
Light
Prefers bright light with morning sun and light afternoon shade, especially as the weather warms, since heat and strong sun trigger bolting.
Water
Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy, watering when the top 2 cm dries, roughly every 2 to 3 days. Dry soil and heat stress make it bolt, while waterlogged soil invites root rot.
Humidity
Prefers dry to moderate air and does not do well in damp, humid conditions. Give it good airflow, space the plants and water at soil level, particularly in humid Karachi.
Temperature
Grows well from about 8 to 30 C, and in 35 C+ weather it carries on in afternoon shade, though it flowers sooner. Sow from October to February on the plains in small batches every 2 to 3 weeks. 'Slow Bolt' holds its leaf for longer as the weather warms than standard types.

Soil
Loose, well drained, moderately fertile loam with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Mix compost into garden soil or a cocopeat blend, and sow directly, as transplanting stresses the roots and encourages bolting.
Fertilizer
Needs little feeding if the soil is rich in compost. If growth is slow, give one or two light feeds of a balanced fertiliser during the season, and avoid heavy nitrogen, which gives weak, bolt prone growth.
