Seeds
Vibrant, sweet, and crunchy red-toned carrots that are a favorite for fresh snacking.
The 'Lali' variety produces beautifully colored, tapered roots that are loaded with sweet flavor and an exceptionally crisp texture. These carrots perform best in deeply worked, loose soil where they can grow straight and true without obstruction. Their high sugar content makes them ideal for eating raw, juicing, or roasting to bring out a rich, caramelized depth.
Light
Needs full sun, 6 or more hours a day, though it tolerates a little shade.
Water
Keep the soil evenly moist until the seedlings are up, then water deeply once or twice a week. Deep watering encourages long straight roots, while shallow watering or drying out leaves them forked or split.
Humidity
Average humidity is fine. Thin seedlings early so air moves between plants, and avoid wetting the foliage late in the day.
Temperature
Grows well across the cooler months, roughly 10 to 30 C, with sweeter roots when nights are cool. In 35 C+ heat it can still grow in light shade with mulch and regular water, though roots are smaller and less sweet. Sow from October to January on the plains.

Soil
Deep, loose, stone free sandy loam is essential. Rocky, heavy or compacted soil gives forked roots, so sieve out stones, add compost and use a pot at least 30 cm deep. 'Lali' performs best in deeply worked, loose soil.
Fertilizer
Carrots need little feeding. Mix a balanced fertiliser such as 5-10-10 into the bed before sowing, and avoid fresh manure and excess nitrogen, which cause forked, hairy roots.
